> We are going to be in the greater Cleveland area during the holidays. (Mentor Ohio). Does anyone know if RTA runs any pcc's during the holidays. My father in law is ill and something like that would cheer him up. Are there any trolley museums in the area?

There are some museums in the area. I do not know if Trolleyville operates at this time of year. While they have a wonderful collection, I do not know if they have any operating PCCs. There are other museums in the vicinity that have PCCs, but these cars are in very rough condition. There is, however, one exception I highly recommend. If you and your father in law are up for the drive, head to
Washington, Pennsylvania (thirty miles south of Pittsburgh) and visit the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum. They have three recently restored PCCs that are unbelievably gorgeous and these cars would cheer him up if saw them. I believe only Philadelphia PCC 2711 is actually operational at this time, but perhaps somebody there could be persuaded to pull it out for you and your father-in-law. Here is their
web site:

They operate all weekends this December, plus the 26th through the 28th.

I realize that Pittsburgh is a bit of a drive from Cleveland, especially during the winter, but this museum is simply unbelievable! The work they perform is first class. Their overhead looks better than that of some operating transit agencies, the people are friendly and their restored cars are very nice.

Trust me, you won't be disappointed if you can make the trip.
