Hell, that brings up another interesting news item.

In January 1901 the fine civilized folk in Marietta PA were passing
around a petition to force the legislature into stopping the
Pennsylvania Canal Company from going out of business.  The Lancaster
New Era opined that there was no shortage of people thereabouts willing
to sign the petition.  The next time the subject came up was seven
months later, when the Pennsylvania Railroad was draining the canal to
get rid of mosquito larvae and "malaria", which all the fine folk in
Marietta thought was a great idea.  No wonder politicians never worry
about what they say if the election is more than six months ahead! 

We don't need Pittsburgh trolleys.  We can just rename it the Canals and
Airplanes web site!
