Greetings!

PERC EDITORIAL -- PTC.

"IT IS PROBABLY NOT WISE to editorialize in a hobby
publication of this sort, and we vowed at the out-set not to indulge in
that sort of play on words. However, ._._. Our Philadelphia editors
of the July issue of Railway Review have spoken well when they say (as
an aftermath of an unfortunate incident in which a youthful group of
trolley fans exercised poor judgment when they took a PTC trolley off
the beaten path and became stranded, causing PTC much expense and
embarrassment): 'there may have been harrowing experiences in
chartering streetcars to certain railfan groups, but we seriously
question the wisdom and merit of PTC's solution of the problem
(obtaining permission from the PUC to cancel their franchise for
chartering trolleys), Indeed, the vast majority of the populace
consider PTC only a necessary evil of getting to work and back, Many of
PTC's only friends are the rail and/or transit enthusiasts. So, where
do you begin effective public relations, so important in transit
today? If a company is not accommodating in the slightest way to those
who want to be friendly and share definite interest in what the company
does, good or bad, then what is the company's attitude toward the
teeming hordes of humanity who are completely indifferent of, even
worse, who dislike the company.' So, maybe we aren't as bad off as we
thought."
