I did have the pleasure to ride DC Transit #1512 (The Silver Sightseer) in
the summer of 1961. I went to DC with a high school buddy for the weekend. We
were standing on 'C' St., near that small tunnel the DCT cars used on the
Capitol grounds, waiting for a car to go to Penna Ave. A car came in sight
and we boarded only to be greeted by a uniformed 'stewardess'. What a
surprise, we were beside ourselves. The car was much better than the other
DCT cars, with such things as better seats, better flooring and postcard
views of Washington landmarks inserted into the standee windows. The
"postcards" were transparencies and thus the light from outside illuminated
them. The main difference was the air conditioning. It was a good system and
kept the car cool and dry in spite of the summer heat and humidity of DC.

I guess that car was lost to vandals at the DC trolley museum some years ago.
