I was born in St. Joseph's Hospital on N. 51st & W. Burleigh Streets in
Milwaukee. Burleigh never had end to end trolley service, but the Route
20 streetcar and the Milwaukee Northern interurban once used short
stretches of the street between N. 5th Street and Teutonia Avenue. So
there. :-)

Now to get on topic. I'd like to learn more about the "Mod" paint
schemes. Who originated the three "caterpillar" stripes, the initial
reactions of the public and Port Authority brass and when the decision
was made to expand into other variations such as traditional "bill
board" cars.

After viewing images shot by my myself, Jim Holland, James Hennig,
Roberta Hill, John Bromley and others, I realized some of these cars
were repainted several times between 1972 and the mid 1980s. It sure
made up for years of PRCo and early PAT neglect.

A shot of the Tunnel Carhouse yards from the Overbrook right of way,
showing the yards jammed with these candy colored creations should have
graced the cover of C.E.R.A.'s "Rainbow of Traction" book.
