Some - or all - of this may be old news, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer
on 7/16/01 had a nearly half-page article, with photos, on the closing
of Trolleyville USA in Columbia Park near Cleveland. A new York company
bought the 1,400 mobile home park on 6/25/01, and they've given the
former owners five years to remove their 30 trolleys, buildings and
2-1/2 miles of track and overhead. They estimate that the move will
cost at least $1 million.
Two groups of railroad enthusiasts, a village southwest of Cleveland and
some townships are interested in acquiring Trolleyville. The article
said that Trolleyville has cars from Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago,
Cincinnati, Toronto and England.
