See what editors will do to make their publications look authentic? There's
an Ed Miller photo of I think 4391 that matches your description (my photos
are at my office and I'm not there to verify the car number), one which I
later used in a PTM calendar. It could well have been available to them in
1977, but they certainly did get the car number wrong. But 4398 was
intended to go there at one time.

In 1977-78 I was on the mailing list for the Pittsburgh History &
Landmarks Foundation's newsletter publicizing the soon-to-open Station
Square.

The October, 1977 issue contained a photo of PRC 4391 on Carson St. near
the tunnel entrance; the rooftop destination sign reads 32-P&LE
Transfer. Autos in the photo date it to 1953 or possibly later.

The photo caption reads: "This trolley, shown at the corner of
Smithfield and Carson Streets, is being restored by the Arden Trolley
Museum for Station Square. Photo c1953."

Okay, who's hiding the 4391 at Arden? It never made it to Station
Square. :-)

PS - I'll be in Kenosha tomorrow (Saturday) for the dedication of the
Transit Center and free trolley rides.
