This makes sense - the overload was not due to higher demand than
scheduling allowed.
No matter how good the training, personality differences are a factor
in keeping schedules. Some people are driven this way, others are not -
and I don't say this in a negative sense. Some operators feel unsafe
running at fever pitch and really are not geared to work that way. My
follower is that type of individual but is highly reliable and
dependable otherwise - he will keep on going no matter what but has
difficulty maintaining the schedule with heavy traffic and passenger
loads.

Some contracts have clauses which keeps the current contract in effect
for a certain period of time after expiration.

So there was actually a loop-hole in the interurban tax?
Wish you could have prevailed in both cases!
How do you see light rail today, specifically in Pittsburgh but also
the US in general? Light rail is heavily subsidized - do you think this
is good or bad?
