Actually, Mr. G said it was body style, not electrical repair parts.
The GE 17s were scrapped by 1969 which was Before any decision to
upgrade the PCCs. That decision came in late 1970 or early 1971, if I
am not mistaken. Thus the GE 17s were not around to be included in any
overhaul.
My point was that when PRCo started scrapping cars, they got rid of the
GE cars first - ala the 1275--1299--series. So there was a precedent
for scrapping GE cars when it came to ({[pat]})!
And I definitely see the different personalities involved. That is why
I stated that maybe the powers that were decided to scrap some of the
newest cars to help thwart the Trolley Jollies!! While we prefer not to
see any cars scrapped, it worked in saving some of the Air-Cars which
otherwise would have been doomed.
And KEN would not have 1614 as his favorite car today if that was the
case -- it would have to be one of those cars that can't be beat --
a 17!!
