Slush and spray on the resistor grid housings? That would cause steam. Or perhaps
slush hitting a hot part of the compressor? Condensate from somewhere?

I need to pull out your book and what might be under there that was capable of
getting warm enough to do so.  Ken J.

P.S.- Can one get brake linings to smoke uphill while chasing a 90 mph Route 87
PCC car with a factory stock "Stovebolt Six" '37 Chevy? ;-)
