[PRCo] Re: Safety Slogan

I enjoyed reading the information about the safety slogans and car signs.

Are photos available of the signs that can be used to make signs for models? I would like to ad signs to my model 1700's, so I would concentrate on those signs, etc. first. I saw some nice signs added to the Baltimore PCC's last week end at the East Penn Show. I believe they were scanned and printed on sticky paper which made the stiff enough and could be easily applied to the car sides. If we had those now, the Russian builders would do the work and apply the signs at the shop.

Also, are any of the PAT emblems or stickers available for photographing or copying, again for modeling purposes. Or are good detail photos available. I mostly see full car shots. Charlie Houser made it a point of photographing just emblems. His photos have been very helpful. I was able to take a digital photo of the winged emblem which I forwarded to the model builders. The detail of the decals produced is fabulous. They have the time and skill to make a beautiful product.

Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't take detailed notes on the safety slogans but as I remember
and from correspondence with other non-internet PRCo fans, Green is the
only color and I only know of 2-safety slogans. Let me see if I can
check that out a little further; it is possible that bronze and silver
were used. Did you ask them at Custom Traxx if they have it on good
authority that silver and bronze were used?

I am not fond of changing the original PRCo color arrangements - don't
like outside advertizing either painted on nor pasted nor bolted on and
the Safety Slogans were somewhat similar. It's just a personal
preference and not judgmental.
But as with everything else in life, there are exceptions! The 14s
painted up for World War-2 were extremely tasteful in addition to
patriotic and serving a real need and purpose. And even the 14s painted
for the Symphony, County Fair, and a few other Civic Events were
extremely handsome//beautiful and very well designed.
The Safety Slogan certainly serves a purpose, but it is an add--on and
gives that appearance - something which looks out of place!

IF -- and that is a big I--F -- I ever get to model PRCo, it will
be 1953 and before. The old low-floors and non-PCC interurbans did have
exterior ads - most Fort Pitt and Iron City Beers although I found one
3800 with a Dad's Root Beer Ad - but I am hard pressed to find ads on
PCCs prior to 1952, and none on 1700s until 1953 or later. I have one
of 1616 at Riverview with 2-ads on the left side but will have to take a
more detailed look thru all albums later to see about more ads. But for
the time-period I wish to model, ads would be very low-key and at this
point, I have no inclination to include them.
But ads inside above the windows would be great - are you including
these, Bob?!?!(:->)

And of all things -- found 2-low-floors in the same pic with ads for
Channel-2 TV on the front dasher - not unlike advertizing autos,
considering our recent discussions.
Interesting -- I tend to look right by those ads and don't even see
them -- and wouldn't have if not for these discussions!
