Hi Matt!
I AM Convinced::::::: It seems that the photo indicated strongly
suggests a turnout is there. Maybe Don would like to borrow my
bi-fogies!!(:->)
I had my 1949 ERA map enlarged and it definitely shows a double track
turn at this location as a dotted line indicating it was removed but had
been there at one time.
SOOOoooooo, from Charles Street there was a double track-wye to
Perrysville with a single track wye from the 21-line on the other side!
As Fred indicated in another post, I confused the intersections of East
and Charles for a while which clouded my understanding. This map does
not show a crossover on Perrysville outbound of East Street but there is
obviously one inbound of East and Evergreen for the 12-line shuttle.
At one time, then, the 8-line operated to and from East//Perrysville;
the 9-line operated from Downtown along Perrysville to Charles and
aprox. Strauss and return. And the 21-line did its normal route. This
was probably prior to Keating opening.
Then the 8-line was extended to Keating; the 9-line was converted to a
shuttle between Strauss and Perrysville; then we lost the 9-line and
eventually the 7-line.
DERRICK::::::: If I hadn't enlarged the ERA map we were going to send
you to that intersection with your pick-ax to see what you could
find!!(:->)
