When I rode the Library Inteurban in 1958 that long straightaway out
near the end of the line on the inbound trip was made pedal to the metal
and the car indeed kept quiting and then running again but not sure if
it was 42 mph or nearer 50 . I asked the motorman what was happening and
he replied  "the dam governor is set too low on this car and I can't get
it to run any faster so we will probably get to SHJ late and it would
have to be my last trip !"
