   I guessed there were 99 underlying leased traction companies operated
by PittsburghRailways Co., but the number kept changing. The buy-outs
you found reference to were made possible by will- ng owners of old
bonds and stocks. They probably saw their old companies were hopeless or
just wanted out to free up investment so cut a good deal with the P,R.Co
or other major underlier to sell out  cheap.  Most of them held out for
their full lease rental and hung in there until 1930 when the Great
Depressiion ruined every body. It took until 1952 to eliminate them by
