Charlie Brown:

Are you surprised at the reactions from your passengers? Remember,
these are the people so stupid that they either they cannot get a
drivers license or they cannot earn enough money to buy a car or both.
Many take the bus because walking is difficult ... they must think ...
left ... right ...left ... right.

In 1957 when I took the drivers license exam in Pennsylvania, one had to
memorize the entire code book. You would be asked ten questions at
random during the exam. And you'd better know them. The code book
today isn't even shown to new drivers in Pennsylvania. In deference to
people in Philadelphia, it has been reduced to something resembling a
comic book format!

The Commercial Drivers License test isn't a whole lot better. Some
years ago when everyone with a CDL had to be reexamined, I took the
test. I was astonished that reading competency was not a part of the
exercise. If the candidate for a CDL in Pennsylvania cannot read,
someone will be provided to read the questions to them. (Yes I passed
it. I read it too.)

Because the court decisions that resulted in this idiocy are probably
duplicated in all states, I'm not surprised by your experiences. I've
seen those same people everytime I ride a bus in Lancaster ... only here
it is far worse because virtually no one uses transit here for
convenience.
