Hold it! TRC had over 100 patents, ranging from the design patent on
the air cars, to resilient wheels, all sorts of things ... even couplers
at both the floor and roof of railroad cars to prevent them from
swaying. The ones they chose to enforce were on the trucks. If, for
example, the new trucks use the same PCC king pin design, they would
still meet on of TRC's definitions of what is a PCC car (a car embodying
our patents). However, all the patents are in the public domain today,
which might simply tell is that the rights are not protected and they
are simply not PCC cars.
