Not amongst the general population, Jim. Only amongst the railfan and
public transit industry is "streetcar" so defined.
Ask a hundred people at random (try asking your neighbor's son) what a
streetcar is, and I would not be surprised if the usual answer is a type of
NASCAR racing.
Discovered this at church when I mentioned that I enjoyed streetcars, and a
couple of the guys thought I'd like to join them and their families on their
next trip to the races.
Not really what I had in mind. But then they can't comprehend how WE manage
to navigate the public transit systems in various cities.
Just a (gentle) reminder how foreign our interest is to most people.

Now, then, to be perfectly specific about the type of interurban of which
one speaks, do
>we say *Interurban--trolleycar??* Seems like a misnomer since

Intraurban=within urbanized area (Media and Sharon Hill); Interurban=between
urbanized area (LVT Liberty Bell route?)
Would 'inter-city' work better for railroad/Amtrak service??
dunno.
