[PRCo] The PCC Books

Years ago, I read all three 1980s PCC books, cover to cover, twice. At the time,
I did not understand some of the technical information and in any event, I
probably have forgotten seven-eighths of the information presented. A few months
ago, I pulled out "The Car That Fought Back" to cross reference something
mentioned on this list.

I remembered that when I read the books the first time, I had a feeling of
impending tragedy from the onset. We all know the PCC didn't save the rail
transit industry, though it did prolong it in a few locations.

A fellow list member once wrote that Pittsburgh fans were much like opera
lovers. I would have to say that applies to many, if not most traction fans.
Think about it. :-)

Jim Holland and I once debated on whether being a traction fan makes one cynical
or if cynics are drawn to the hobby by rail transit's history. The chicken or
the egg?
