I graduated from the school of put up or shut up. Being not much one for
shutting up I went back to the drawing board and implemented a trailing
quote stripper as an enhancement for the mailing list software I'm using,
tested it, and contributed it back to the maintainers in the amount of
time since my last message:-)

So, this time, really to me (shadow at dementia.org) and not the list: if I
configure the list server to do the work for you and strip the trailing
quotes, is that palatable?
