No horror stories. Only pride.
Dave Brown came from Community to be asst to Dameron for 4 years.
Harold Norris came from Culmerville to be my asst and eventually svc planning
director. A very good man.
Rich Godlewski came from Community to Purchasing Agent.
Will Barnes came from Shafer to be labor-personnel director.
His brotherinlaw also came over.
Ed Burton came from Penn Transit to be a Regional Tranp. mgr.
Roy Behling came from Shafer as my asst.
Otto Behling came from Oriole to be a planner.
George Nebesnik came from Noble J Dick to planning. He established
the Mon Valley commuter train. Took to rail because he knew the Mon Valley.
Wilson Feick came from Brentwood to be Asst Controller to Schnur.
Bob Feick came from Brentwood to be Regional Mgr, Transp.
Al Bigi came fromBigi as a Regional Mgr Transp.
Even Ralph Burrelli from East Pgh became a dispatcher
John Baxter came from PRC to Early Action Program.
Bob Fulton came from PRC to be my asst and eventually headed
up the minority model city loop program.
and best of all, Bob Parker came from PRC to be my main asst and
eventually my successor.
All good people among others.
Any independent employee had a job if he wanted one. Many did not
due to ownership, etc. such as Ohio River, Trafford
The problem was with ex PRC employees very fixed in their ways. Even
Dameron did not like them. He said NCL would not have kept them.

Transp was under John Buzzard's control and dificult to work with. He
did not like planners changing his routes and schedules. Eventually George
Steitz from PRC took his place. He was easier to work with.
Maint was a real problem. PRC did not really have a bus maint program.
The private companies were controlled by the owners who left. Dameron
hired Ralph Cornell from St Louis for a while. I hired Ken Hussong
who proved to be a big help. He painted the streetcars and established
bus maint.
My main team was Norris, Parker and Hussong supported by many loyal
associates. Not a horror story. Why would you think it was?
After Dameron left, John Mauro was a very understanding Exec Director.
>From 1970 to 1976, PAT did a very excellent job. Sky bus vs LRT
was outside our control.. We upgraded LRT and had a good bus
sysem with greatly expanded ridership. We established commuter rail
in a very lightly patronized corridor. Much to be proud of.
