[PRCo] West Penn logo through the ages

Last night somebody brought a video tape of home
movies of West Penn cars running here there and
elsewhere in Westmoreland and Fayette counties. No
dates, no commentary, just movies of trolleys and very
odd music.
Part way through, one of the guys said "Hey! That 700
didn't have any logos on the side!" Rewound, looked
again, and the club immediately divided into two
camps.
1. That's right, no logos.
2. There were logos in the usual places, but they were
just black outlines and letters, no white background.
All I ever remember seeing were the black (dark blue?)
on a white circular background with maybe a bit of
deep yellow here and there. But if my eyes weren't
fooling me, a number of the cars on the tape had a
simpler, all black logo stenciled right on the orange
car side.
Can anyone comment about dates for the two types,
assuming I'm not imagining this?
