[PRCo] The Short Course in Duquesne Trolley Operators

Very quickly...West Penn operated trolleys to Duquesne ONLY between February
1918 and the summer of 1924. It was a result of the City of Duquesne's
having revoked PRCo's franchise because they raised the fare in 1918 (and
this is another story all unto itself, in which the PSC, not the
municipalities, won the right to be the arbiter of fares). They then
competed with PRCo for those few years, until a new agreement was reached
regarding rent and service.
Originally (February 10, 1899), McKeesport, Wilmerding & Duquesne and
Monongahela Street Railway had a 99-year agreement that called for
Monongahela to provide the cars (with two registers) and run the service,
but with a MW&D conductor outbound of Thompson's Run Bridge to collect that
revenue.
