Good Morning!!
Dennis Linsky provided the following information -- assuming this is
all similar date (early Fall--1951), but that is not specifically stated
in the opening paragraph. Dennis scours back editions of
*Headlights* etc for this interesting trivia!

PITTSBURGH INDUSTRIES WANT TROLLEY SERVICES
Abandonment of Pittsburgh PCC route 23-Sewickley became something more
than a formality when the boroughs served opposed the move at a PUC
hearing, and Pittsburgh Railways now had to prove more fully the saving
it expected to gain. Wartime industries on Neville Island were jittery
about having to depend on bus service for their workers.
Saturday, September 8, 1951, saw the last of the route 81-Atwood
trolleys; their place was taken by the first of a 15-bus order from
ACF-Brill. Service on the line became a shuttle only, peak-hour city
trips have been eliminated, but frequency is best in Steel City with 7
1/2 headway at all times of the day. Route 9-Charles Street Shuttle
expired quietly "again" on Friday, September 14, 1951, after the PUC
finally gave its formal approval; the first time it tried to quit
without approval, since bus service is given along all of of its route,
but riders balked at less frequent bus service.
Despite much noise-making by political figures, PRCo. put into effect
another fare raise on Monday, September 10, 1951, after the PUC issued
no restraining order on the matter. Following the arbitration award of
wages increased to $1.84 during 1952, fares rose to 17 cents cash and 3
tokens for 50 cents, plus 3 cents for local transfers.
Very Sincerely,
Dennis M. Linsky
