Good Morning!!
This just came across the electrons.............
..............Muni was the successful bidder on an Internet auction
where two retired Pittsburgh PCCs, 4008 and 4009 were being auctioned.
Muni paid the winning bid of $10,000 each. Silk Road Transport (the New
York State trucking company which moved cars for the original PCC
rebuild contract) will be bringing the two cars out to San Francisco.
GM Michael Burns himself participated in this auction.
Plans are to get the cars regauged as soon as possible and into
service, although folding doors will be required in the front, and
wheelchair spaces created.
Just think -- these Pgh. cars will now sport front trolley poles,
sure to gladden the hearts of all traction fans here!! At least the
pan(s) will be removed!!
