Good Morning!!
The two Pittsburgh cars [4008, 4009] will go into storage at
Marin Division upon arrival in San Francisco -- they, along with the
other Muni cars already in storage, the three "Baby Tens" coming back
from South Lake Tahoe, and Philadelphia 2147.
SF Muni 1040, the last PCC built domestically in the US, is in the next
batch of cars to be completely overhauled. Three torpedoes (double-end
PCCs) will go out with 1040.
Should be no doubt in anyone's mind that the economy is now in a
tank. Definitely Not Asking that a thread be started on the subject
(and definitely Not Interested in Personal Opinion), but given the
economy, Muni priorities, and other cars sitting here waiting here for
overhauls, it may be a long -- Very Long time before the Pgh. cars are
touched!(:->)
