Today's paper carried an Associated Press article entitled "Span City." The story
was written by Todd Spangler and the photography was by Keith Srakocic. Two shots
of the Smithfield Street Longevity Experiment, er, Bridge are featured on the
front page of the travel section. Inside is a shot of one of the globes on the
Sixteenth Street Bridge as well as a distant shot of the Fort Pitt Bridge.

Is it just me, or does the Smithfield Street Bridge appear rather naked and
perhaps, "dead" without a 1700 emerging from a portal? The lack of trolley wire
and feeders also diminishes its appeal, doesn't it? ;-)

P.S.- Does anybody have a photo of the Windgap suspension footbridge handy for a
quick "scan and send."? The article mentions it spans Chartiers
Creek........sounds interesting.......
