Route 32 P&LE Transfer (so as not to confuse with earlier route 32) required
a double end car. The crossover on Carson St. west of Smithfield was still
in place for (really stretching the memory cells now) car 1000 fantrip in
June 1958. Car was backed into Carson St. towards the incline station, but
then split the crossover switch. It was worth a photo.
Or maybe the car was backed into the 32 track so that those on fantrip could
ride the incline. That makes more sense. I would have been about a 12 year
old kid at the time.
Any better recollections from the "older gents"???
