Quoting from pg.183 of "PCC From Coast to Coast:::::::"
"The car ends and roof ends were cast from fiberglass using old parts as
patterns. The skirts and body side panels below the belt rail are cut
from sheets of Alucobond, a plastic material with an aluminum skon on each
side, manufactured by Consolidated Aluminum. Because they cannot be
welded, the Alucobond panels have been riveted to the frame; thus these
are the first riveted cars since the Clark effort of 1936 for Brooklyn.
The fiberglass stepwells, doors, headlining, plastic molded window trim on
the inside of seat frames, upholstery, windows, glazing, floor covering,
and other interior trimmings are all new. The motorman's seat frame and
the control pedals represent the only interior used parts."
