This raises a different sort of question. The sample SEPTA car that
went to
Brookfield to be scrapped to enable the locomotive company to see what
was wrong
in order to bid on the SEPTA PCC rehab job disclosed that all or almost
all of
the roof carlines were rusted loose from the window (or side body)
posts. I
don't recall that we had any of them repaired. And that may have been
why PAT
had that curious side mounting method for pantographs on their PCCs????
I was
once told it was because the roof would not support pantographs. Maybe
we know
why.
