I asked the same question over two years ago -- while I found my
email, I cannot find Ed's answer. Possible he answered as an addendum
to another email and it was filed elsewhere -- I usually keep most
everything! Also have a 14-series PCC with *Finleyville* sign --
Black-Letters on White Background.
Ed's answer was to this effect:: It is possible that some event was
happening in the vicinity of Finleyville which might attract people from
all over Pgh. Using Riverview could cause confusion.
Also possible that a tripper was used during rush hour and the last
revenue stop was Finleyville because the car need to clear the single
track to Riverview to prevent fouling opposing scheduled service.
In the latter 1960s, I was on Drake taking photos during the AM rush
and the cars did not stop at all stops. Intending passengers were
obviously aware of this, but I was not. Distinctly remember that
motorman kept his eye on me and with good reason -- he was flat out
moving and wasn't certain of my intentions! Next car was there within
1-minute. This kept service moving quite fast for such long stretches
of single track during heavy times of ridership.

Greetings
Jim's assumption is correct I believe. I remember riding this car with
this sign.
Lets hear from the historians. Best wishes to all.
