Author: Arthur G. Smith
Published in 1990 by Univ. of Pittsburgh Press.
I bought a copy in Greensburg several years ago. Just
dragged it out and looked at it again. The author,
then chairman of the History Dept at Pitt selected a
group of 150+ photos taken at various times in the
past.
Then during the good weather in 1986 thru 1988 he went
to those places and took a photo, trying as best he
could (and usually succeeding quite well) to match the
old view.
The scenes are categorized geographically. In my
opinion, the least successful part is Shadyside, where
he published several photos of mansions now gone
"paired" with non-descript views which resemble the
old view not at all.

The book is well made, good paper, photos very well
reproduced, a quality job.
I found it quite interesting. But how can I answer for
you? One man's meat is another man's poison.
