Hello all,
Maybe someone familiar with the West End Lines and Carnegie can help me with
this question?
Where did Main Street actually terminate back in 1959 - 1960's?
I know that a "mall," ala East Liberty, had been put up in the middle of Main
Street past the intersection of Washington street sometime in the '70's, I
guess, but then it was dismantled in more recent years, and Main Street was
opened. However, now it appears that Main Street fades into the parallel and
wide four-lane Mansfield Avenue at the western end of Main.
When one watches the Transit Gloria Mundi video, it appears that Main goes on
and on as a two-lane street with rail yards to the left of the outbound track
before it turns into the former loop at Eighth street.
Those rail yards appear to currently be -or may have recently been on the
outbound side of Mansfield.
Can anyone clarify this?
Thanks,
Matt
