Jim is right on the re-built cars in San Francisco being excellent
models for the re-building these cars recieved at [I think ] ALSTROM ] .
Walking in the pit in a carhouse tour at Geneva when they first arrived
and later riding the fan trip with three of them brought realization
that they were new cars in every sense of the word !! Underbodys with
absolutely no rust and what looked to be new master controller parts and
electrical cabinet covers . Interiors shiney and smelling like a new car
. The only thing noticeable to me was the occasional paint job with
rotary sander marks made when the cars were repainted where not enough
fine sanding was done to feather the edges.

They ran like the wind and the car I was in piloted by Jack Smith of
the Market St Ry group made a speed run back down the p-r-w from Balboa
Park that was exilirating to say the least.
