Car 1700 was the only one of the series delivered and placed in service in
1948...on Route 22, to show it off to the largest number of people during
the busy holiday season.

Thanks, Jim, for posting the transcript. The main error I found in the
original NMRA flyer was the statement that said that
the last trolleys (1700 series) entered service in 1948.
Also, the flyer doesn't mention that the trolleys stopped on Grandview
Avenue and discharged riders for a view of the city, and that the trolleys
also stopped to allow them to ride the incline depicted in the flyer.
This fantrip was a big secret - none of the NMRA convention attendees knew
where the trip was going (or even that there would be a trolley fantrip)
until we left the William Penn Hotel and stepped out on to Grant Street that
evening.
An 11 trolley fantrip. Those were the days!
