Donora was local service on Charleroi interurban which was operated by
slow, double-end Low-Floor [Jones] cars until abandoned in June--1953.
The Donora Local ran from Riverview Loop on its northern end and shared
trackage with Charleroi interurban cars south for about 2-miles through
Monongahela City to Black Diamond Jct. at which point the line struck out
on its own as side of the road prw along the Monongahela River. Street
running ensued within Donora proper with one siding here and then the wye
and later the stub end of the line.
Wye was used for freight but was briefly used by interurbans in 1920s from
Pgh. when hourly service was run to either Donora or Charleroi giving
30-minute service north of Black Diamond Jct.
Riverview loop also had another leg to it making it a wye and local rush
hour service from Pgh. wyed here.
