I too had a wonderful time in Washington this past weekend. I'd like to thank
Tom Phillips and Fred Schneider for taking us on a fabulous tour of what once
were the PRCo interurban lines. I want to go back sometime and check them out
in the winter. We weren't able to see some parts due to the heavy foilage. I
can now look at some of the photos I have and picture the location. What a
difference! Saturday evening was fabulous. I
would also like to thank John for putting together a first class slide
presentation. John probably has the best slide collection around. He removed
all the "garbage" so there wasn't a bad one in the bunch.
I was somewhat depressed when 1711 was in the barn not running when I arrived
at PTM. At the intermission of John's show, however, I was elated. The folks
at PTM had 1711 and 3756 waiting for us to take a night ride. Forgive me for
being so blunt, but I almost creamed my jeans on that ride. I hadn't ridden a
Pittsburgh PCC in 20 years. What a sight she(1711) was all lit up at night!
Exterior-wise, 1138 looks even better than 1711. Makes me proud to be a
member of such a fine organization. The 20 or so "regulars" should be
commended for the time and effort they put into the museum. I'd like to say
thanks to all the folks at PTM for the first class treatment I recieved.
I'm sorry Derrick that I never got to say goodbye. I hope you had a nice
anniversary.
                                            Mark McGuire
