Thank you all for the information. The prize is that it will get integrated
into the website.

I noticed another shot already on the web page that must have been taken
around the same time --
http://www.users.voicenet.com/~dietrich/SHJ/fws04.htm. Unfortunately I
don't have a date for that one either, but they do present a little more
info into the evolution of SHJ.

I also think I need to re-date this shot now --
http://www.users.voicenet.com/~dietrich/SHJ/ray1.htm because it appears to
be about the same timeframe. All the billboards are there, and that could
be a track in front of them. Also the salt box like in the above photo is
present. Now I have to find out when the place evolved to this point.

Thanks you all.

Bob

This is one of many photos that Ollie Miller had copied from "somewhere."
Never was there a source or a date, unfortunately. The Liberty Tunnels
opened January 30, 1924 (according to Stefan Lorant's chronology), so it
could have beentaken any time after the ventilating shafts for that were
complete. Was the Oakland Six a new model in any particular year in that
era?

The track marked in red is clearly going to the old P&CS tunnel, which of
course is much higher up on the hillside. Do not rely on this map to
indicate broad gauge tracks...they may have just been tracks visible to the
surveyor. I'm also not certain we will ever know the origin of some of this
trackage...the carhouse area was built in stages, and I'm assuming the
tracks would have been too.

G'day ya'll.

During my diggings in the Miller library Saturday I came across an old photo
at SHJ that I need help with. I threw together a quick web page --
http://www.users.voicenet.com/~dietrich/SHJ/PTMteam.htm. I'll make it part
of the SHJ web site when I get it cleaned up some.

I really like this old shot. It shows how much things changed over the
years while they stayed the same. Look closely and you can see two cars
passing on the 44-48 line, that trolley in the center is on the Team Track
cut-back.

Don't try to navigate using the inks at the bottom of the page, I don't know
where it will take you. But if you would be so kind as to look at the photo
and the map and tell me if I'm right or wrong and provide answers to a
question or two I would really appreciate it. You didn't see a date on the
print did you Ed?

Bob Schmidt, is that your house above the hollow?

Thanks.

Bob
