Fred describes the junction accurately. This was named Vanderbilt Jct, as
the branch line went through that community on the way to Dickerson Run.
But the box houses the switches for the signal lights, not the light bulbs
themselves. These latter were higher up on the poles, and one can be seen
on the pole directly to the left of the one with the switches.
Thanks, Bob, for the kind comment about the calendar. I selected the photo
for just the reasons you mentioned! If I could change one thing about it,
though, I'd wash the Esso logo on the back of the tanker! Interestingly,
all those company houses are still there and look pretty good today...it's
amazing what individual ownership did for these company-built dwellings.

Subject: [PRCo] PTM Calendar March 2002
Folks:
To me the photo for March makes the PTM 2002 calendar worth the price. West
Penn 700, company houses, black dirt, and the road grime on that Esso truck
makes me want to get out the airbrush. Great photo Mr. England.
I have a couple questions about this photo:
1. Is this a loop or a junction? Since it is not near South Hills Junction
I have no idea.
2. What is the contraption on the line pole just above the Bus Stop sign.
Thanks.
Bob
