The Pentrex video of railroads was quite good showing all the lines in
use in 1999 where it was Conrails last year to operate before the merger
with CSX and NS . The Union RR was shown with its coke trains feeding
into the last steel mill running in the McKEESPORT area . The only
thing that was not good was the map of surrounding areas that was
printed so the names of towns were barely readable . For me being not
that familiar with the area towns it was a mystery as to where I was at
times. Even tho the narrator said where we were it did not mean anything
to me as my memory of Pittsburgh was from the late fifties. Homestead
was so changed with the large mills missing it was barely recognizeable
.
Great shots of bridge crossings of the Mon & Allegheny Rivers and
the hot slab trains running in the steel mill and pushing hot slag cars
around was a highlight not seen by most people due to restricted access.
A lot of trains and action with Amtrak pass. trains running by was god
too. The entry into downtown Pittsburgh over the strange bridge over the
Allegheny was seen as well as literail trains passing by RR trains on
their way to the Panhandle Bridge . River traffic with barges and
excursion boats also was seen along with the implosion of the stadium
that was demolished to make way for a new one. 2 HRS 16 MIN LONG FOR
$29.95 plus $5 ship
