Not sure of the exact figures on ridership but it is somewhere around
your figures John Swindler. The ridership figures on the Green Line that
was built to serve the large aerospace industial area south of LAX did
not materialize as the entire Aerospace buisiness in LA went bye-bye and
all of the huge complex was empty on opening day. The other fly in the
ointment was the LAX junction was built but never run on due to pressure
from shuttle bus lines and the taxi companys to keep the literail out of
the terminal area. This has not changed but shuttle buses do serve the
nearby station. The only trouble is the Green Line does not go directly
downtown so a tranfer to the Blue Line is necessary to do that. Plans
for LAX improvements to extend the Green line directly into a new
terminal with a rail shuttle operating within LAX was put on hold
indefinatly after a new mayor and Sept. 11
