Was that the fantrip that used 1603 for part of day, and 1776 for second 
half??  I took some slides of Harold G. pointing out to couple officials 
from another transit system (wonder if one of them was Bill Vigrass) the 
rust buckets that PAT had to work with (1603), and what the Tunnel Carhouse 
folks were able to achieve (1776).   (I really should confirm car numbers)

I think it was in one of Fred the third's books that he mentioned that the 
PCC car was designed for a 20 year life.  And then the cars were to be 
scrapped because further development in rail vehicle design would produce an 
improved product.  These are the words of Conway and Hirshfeld to the ERPCC 
annual meetings during the 1930s as their work was nearing completion.  From 
that perspective, none of the PCC rebuilding programs should have occurred.  
Again, read what Hirshfeld and Conway had to say.
