Pittsburgh Birneys 7 and 9 were acquired second hand in 1926 and were
scrapped in 1932.
They came from an order of 4 cars ordered in 1919 and delivered in 1920
... the builder's photo of Medway and Dedham is dated January 1920.
The original owner went under two names, one the owner (above) and the
other the operator: Milford and Uxbridge St. Ry., situated in
Massachusetts. The builder's photo shows number Medway & Dedham 100
(of 100-103) in the snow outside the Wason plant.
In 1925 two cars were sold off to second hand to New Hampshire's Exteter
Hampton and Amesburyt Street Railway Co. The lasted there one year
until that system abandoned, and then those two cars went to Pittsburgh.
The other two went to the Pennsylvania - New Jersey Railway (the remnant
of the Bucks County Interurban Ry.), where than ran in Trenton NJ -
Yardley PA service until that system shut down in 1934. There are
probably numerous pictures of PNJ 20 and 21 floating around ... I own
three negatives of them.
I have never seen any pictures of the two cars that ran in New Hampshire
and in Pittsburgh.
