Good Morning!

	Some time back there was a discussion about the PCCs used on the
scenic 21--Fineview line in Pittsburgh. It was claimed that the
1700-series were not used here because of the spring-applied
drums which were felt to be inadequate for the steep grades.
(Fantrips, regardless of equipment, quite often travelled the
21-line, even 1700s and some 1700-series interurbans!)

	I had mentioned that I was told that the 1680s had modified
braking for use on the 21. The July--1966 *Headlights* has a
similar statement in the top picture caption on pg.7 which I
quote:::::::

	"Framed by The Maple Avenue overpass is one of the PCCs with
specially modified brakes that plied the line from 1952 to
1966......."   The photo shows "V"-front 1686.
