Don't mind being outbid. I'd expect to be outbid or to withdraw or not to 
compete some 80-90% of the time. That's not the point.

Anyway, HRB's comments in a private message offer some explanation and even a 
little solace even if not the silver bullet that I'd been hoping for. Still 
hurts! I really wanted that item and apparently nobody else was interested 
except for the blindsiding vulture.
