Don. I don't even know what item you were referring to.  I've had my share of 
being "sniped". I've also done my share of sniping. Although this may 
irritate the buyer, 9 times out of 10 it is good for the seller. Especially 
when there are 3 or 4 people putting in last second bids. I always pay 
attention to the auction closing time. If it's in the middle of a weekday 
when I'm working, I expect to be outbid. If it is an item I really want, and 
it closes in the evening, I make sure I'm there at closing. I don't really 
think you'd find many sellers complaining about snipers. Although sniping 
makes me feel guilty sometimes, I learned my lesson when it comes to eBay. 
It's better to screw than be screwed.
