Carvey Davis suggested that the St. Louis car should go into Alexander Blue and that 7407
should be repainted in NCL Transit Yellow. There were so many people opposed to NCL that
the word came down that it was OK for him to paint the St. Louis car in blue but 7407
would also remain in blue. Carvey had the last word. He bought the St. Louis car and he
dictated how it would be painted. By Saturday evening its roof was gray and the yellow
paint was on order.
Not the logical order ... his original suggestion would have been better because the St.
Louis cars originated blue, and 7407 was the last car to run when everything was yellow
... but there will be a car in NCL paint.
Sad that the railfans are so determined that National City Lines was bad. They cannot
understand that, no matter who owned Baltimore Transit, the company would be running
buses and probably not on a much different timetable than NCL had. When the last two
routes were converted in 1963, the cars were only there because they worked and there was
no money for new buses until the city paid for them!
