Pittsburgh Railways ORDERED 100 1500-series cars. They GOT 65. Therefore
do we want a car -- from somewhere else entirely -- to "represent" the
quantity that the government wouldn't let the company buy?
This isn't very logical, but neither is Engleman's reasoning!! Especially
in the absence of an order!!! Especially especially since they never got
the things in any event!!!!
I thought historians were supposed to deal with the facts.

Subject: [PRCo] That damn PCC car on eBay
Regarding the TTC ex Cleveland PCC on eBay ... I suggested to Tom
Phillips not to tell anyone in Baltimore or someone would want to buy
it.
I got to Baltimore this morning and found John Engleman trying to
justify buying it to represent the Pullman order of PCCs that Baltimore
"ordered and never got." I never found it in the PUllman orders but it
won't die. Engleman was trying to prove it today with board meeting
minutes from 1944 that authorized the BTC president to "conduct
negotiations." With a goodly number of people "negotiations" and
"ordering" are one and the same. Of course no one can show me the
order!
John E found out today that it is missing one side...it may have the
trucks but it has allegedly been stripped of all electrical gear ... it
will make a perfect candidate for a ferrous deposit in someone's yard.
Now if someone could just convince Goldpost that it came from
Pittsburgh, we could all enjoy the bidding.....
