Somewhere in the files are sketches of two different sites considered for
both Drake and Library loops.  The other one for Drake was near the wye/West
Penn substation, but it lacked real space as well as good access.  Remember
that parking wasn't a big issue in 1953, though.  The original lot at the
loop might have held 10 cars.

Trestle maintenance costs and an absence of population indeed dictated the
loop location.

Ed would know for sure, but I think they considered several places.  Where
they
put it had enough room for a parking lot and easy access from US route 19.
