I remember a motorman named Timmie on the 5-Spring Hill trolley line. A
very likeable guy in the 1940s and 1950s. I recall one particular trip on
Spring Hill late at night in1953 when I boarded an outbound trolley for a
2-block trip from a friend's house on Itin St. to my stop on Rhine St. at
Woessner Avenue. As I left the trolley, Timmie just smiled, and put his
hand over the fare box as I left the car.

I heard that he was reprimanded by Pittsburgh Railways Co. for such
courtesies, but the other motormen at his barn backed him up and Timmie kept
his job throughout the era of trolleys on Spring Hill. I don't remember
ever seeing him driving a bus after trolleys were abandoned on Spring Hill
in October. 1957.

By the way, my brother lives on Bardonna Circle in Gibsonia. Thanks, Harold
for the background on this name.
