I've been very happy getting acquainted with the Nikon D100 (6.1 megapixel)
I acquired for the business last summer. It's plenty big (capacity- and
quality-wise) for anything I'm likely to do, and of course accepts my
existing AF and other lenses, albeit at a 50% focal length penalty. I've
been slow to get onto the software, but sat at the computer the other night
cleaning (white-balancing) 100 or so images exposed the day Fred and I went
to the National Archives. This was before I learned to adjust the white
balance in the camera. Now I just have to rename the files and I can give
him his copies!
Yes, we will have to buy the digital projectors, but I've asked Santa for a
new Kodak this holiday season so I'll have a fresh one in stock. I've
acquired three older ones with average service of 30+ years (they just keep
on going and going) but think a new one would be nice.
I guess if we made the switch from typewriters and telephones to computers
and email that we can learn to live with digital images. But they're not
going to be the same, no matter how good they are!

So now we'll have to buy one of those $1500 projectors that load from the
hard disk.
I've already discontinued taking slides. In the next few months my CanonA2
and its various lenses are going to be traded in for Nikon digital that
accepts interchangeable lenses. Our current Nikon 5400 digital (which you
saw last March) does an excellent job for a 5 megapixel camera but that's
Margaret's camera and the male of the species has to have a bigger (and
better) one - it says so in the manual.
